the world was supposed to end 10 years ago today and yet i persist (10 years ago i was a second grader and not on dreamwidth, let alone reading fanfic). this comm is not limited to dc it's just what i've voraciously read fic for in the past several months. future posts will definitely feature other fandoms but not here unfortunately

i know red hood and the outlaws is disliked for valid reasons, but i thought this was a very curious take on the series with regards to the multiverse and donna troy's canonical identity issues related to said multiverse. i think the off-kilter characterizations seen in outlaws are subverted very well here with the reboot conflicts shown through donna. very very interesting stuff

defcontwo is one of my favorite ao3 authors like they just knock it out of the park every time. this really hits that melancholic coming of age moving on kinda thing that really makes me love timsteph. just... all that shared history between them but they've had so much shit happen between and to them that it doesn't work anymore. they still care for each other but it can never be the same! god damn

cute and hilarious teen titans doing silly teen things like spreading mostly harmless rumors about each other. it's the new teen titans iteration of the group with roy and wally also there which i love. raven's thought process here is really funny

suitably tragic for the batman reborn era. steph and damian's friendship mean everything to me in all of its nuances and this is perfectly nuanced hurt/comfort between the two

this is such a clever take on social media epistolary fics that i really can't stop rereading it. like the worldbuilding is so subtly expansive and thought out??? also love the dramatic irony packed in every single line as you read the fake tumblr posts from each user. the hero fandom discourse really gets me like it's so on point and i especially love how close it gets to actual fictional hero fandom lmao

heed the tags on this one as it's a terra & deathstroke fic. this one left me speechless like... wow. shieldings writes them so well, especially slade being so terrifyingly unreliable and tara telling it how it is no matter how futile when it's only to slade. great character study through such an interesting setting
